Brunswick SLSC Historical Timeline

Ocean Awareness Day

Community Ocean Awareness Day at Brunswick Heads, a day organised jointly by the Brunswick Surf Life Saving Club (BSLSC) and the Brunswick Board Riders (BBR), together with Surfing Far North Coast(SFNC) and Brunswick Valley Volunteer Marine Rescue to help make a proactive community in case of an emergency.

State IRB Championships

The 1986 State IRB (Inflatable Rescue Boat) Championships were held at Nth Narrabeen and Collaroy beaches in treacherous conditions with 2 meter + waves. Watch as Brunswick Surf Life Saving Club battle it out for the Title against fellow North Coast club, Ballina SLSC and 23 other Clubs. This footage featured on TV's Wide World of Sports in 1986.

Brunswick Rescue Radio Play

In 1953 several of our members were involved in a dramatic rescue at the Brunswick bar. The ABC produced this radio play at the time to commemorate their bravery and we present it as a valuable part of surf life saving history.
