Bronze Medallion (Cert II in Public Safety)
The Bronze Medallion Course is now a Cert II course. Training is for 6 to 8 weeks with a Theory and Practical exam at the conclusion. It's a great introduction to Surf Lifesaving if you are inexperienced and also a next step for SRC holders if you have already studied. It is a non-threatening environment, which encourages people to perform at their own pace at the same time as pushing their comfort zones. Generally we run at least 4 courses per season including through the winter. Courses are usually run on Wednesday evenings (other evenings are possible) with the practical lessons on Saturdays and Sundays. The session is theory, practical resuscitation and then water based activities, board and tube rescues plus a run, swim, run. You need to purchase a Training Manual and Workbook prior to the commencement of the session at a cost of $35 available from the Surf Club Office. You also need to be a financial Member and pay a small course fee. Once you have completed your Bronze you will be required to be an Active Patrol Member and will be assigned to a patrol. Patrol duties occur every 3 to 4 weeks and a roster will be available for the current season. You can also assist with Water Safety during Nippers. Contact Terry Currie
